CODE OF PROFESSIONAL ETHICS AND CONDUCT (COPEC)

Vision Statement:
 Integration of high-performance management professionals towards sustainable economic growth and development. i.e. to provide a professional platform that could unify all management professionals to exercising their professional prowess towards building and re-positioning capacities for sustainable economic growth and development.

Mission Statement:
 To build and reposition human capacities with excellent world-class high-performance skills that will satiate the demand of both public and private corporations as well as the local and international communities, to meet up with poor supply of adequately skilled manpower needed for sustainable economic growth and development through the integration of modern professional management strategies with Information-Communication and Technology (ICT)-aided approaches, advanced state-of-the-art techniques and continued research towards  providing internationally-valued professional training and certification to the best of our capacity to our clients.

Purpose of the code

This code underpins the IIPMIs commitment to establishing and maintaining good practice within the management profession and to building that good practice into the future.   Management professionals who join the IIPMI agree to abide by the standards set out in this code.    

The Standards of Professional Conduct

1.   The Management Professional must strive to provide informed and insightful information, advice and guidance on effective management (with respect to area of specialization as specified on the licence) and development for all stakeholders, including employers and employees. To undertake this task it is necessary that they:
a.   exercise competence in relation to the Institute’s professional standards, levels of membership and any associated recognised qualifications,
b.   recognise the boundaries of their own competence and do not act outside of the limitations of their own knowledge and skills, do not undertake activity where they are not appropriately prepared or suitably qualified, or seek appropriate support if new needs are identified, 
c.   accept full responsibility for their own actions and for any decisions they take,
d.   show a commitment to their own continuous professional development through refreshing and deepening their own professional knowledge, skills and competence,
e.   act with honesty and integrity, and aim to build relationships of trust and respect,
f.    adhere to needs for confidentiality and not disclose any commercially sensitive information or disclose personal information without consent,
g.   lead the profession by example through modelling the professional behaviours of timeliness, diplomacy and respect for others and their points of view, ensuring the appropriateness and accuracy of information and guidance provided, exercising due diligence, and creating and nurturing an ethical work environment.
2.   The Management Professional shows a dedication to advancing the profession and its standing through adhering to the code of conduct and thus effecting good Professional Management practice and associated results, but also through championing the profession and educating business and other stakeholders about the nature of good practice within the field.
3.   The Management Professional shows a steadfast commitment to enhancing individual learning and development and to establishing the processes and structures that will assist the organisation to meet its current and future business objectives. This commitment should be well-evidenced through the care taken to ensure those working for them have the appropriate level of competence, supervision and support.
4.   The Management Professional must act within the law and must not encourage, assist or collude with others who are or may be engaged in unlawful conduct. They should also challenge if they suspect unlawful or unethical conduct or behaviour.
5.   Management Professionals will seek to create a climate of non-discrimination and equal opportunity through employment practices and will establish fair, reasonable and equitable standards of treatment by their employer and employees in the organisation, through their own behaviour and through the policies they implement.
   
Complaints

The Institute will consider complaints from members and non-members concerning lack of adherence to this code of conduct which are likely to bring discredit to the Institute, the profession or the stakeholders it has a duty of care to protect. Deflation to this code can lead to withdrawal and/or termination of licence/membership.
